Essential hygiene tips for first-time moms

Motherhood can be wonderful and challenging at the same time, especially for first-time moms. Caring for a newborn requires special attention to hygiene, as the baby does not yet have a good defense against bacteria. In this regard, we have selected some tips to help women with this challenge.

1. change diapers regularly and maintain your baby's hygiene: the first essential tip for mothers is to maintain their child's hygiene by changing diapers regularly. Checking it often will avoid possible discomfort and skin irritations.

Make sure you have everything you will need before you start changing. These are some of the tools you will need.
- Guard to protect the surface where you change the diaper.
- Clean diaper
- Compresses
- Warm water
- Cream
-Trash bag

Note: if you are not yet very practiced, leave the clean diaper already opened and ready to put on your child.

2. Carefully cleaning the baby's genitals with a moistened pad: Cleaning the baby's genitals requires special care. Use a compress moistened with lukewarm water to clean it carefully after changing the diaper.

Using a wet pad with warm water is the best alternative as it will not contain chemicals that can irritate your baby's skin.

3. Make everyday life easier with clean pads always at hand: Pads can be used for many purposes, such as gently wiping your baby's face, drying your newborn after a bath and at diaper changes. Having them close at hand will make it easier for you to keep your child clean.

During the first month of life, you should clean your newborn's face after bathing.
-Start with the eyes, using wet compresses with water.
- You should start from the cleanest area to the dirtiest.
- Do not use the same compress for both eyes.
- After the eyes, use another clean compress for the rest of the face.

4. Make sure you have a stock of enough diapers and pads: Check regularly that you have enough stock to meet your baby's needs.

Organize in a specific place: Create a place to store, making it easier to keep track of quantities.

5. Special care of the belly button stump: If your baby still has a belly button stump, it is important to take special care, clean around it with a wet sterile pad and with a mild soap, make sure to fold the diaper below the belly button to avoid irritation. This care will help the stump heal properly and prevent infections.
